Since 1968, the citizens of Redlands have celebrated Independence Day in classic Americana style. What began as a small-town picnic has become known as one of the best places to celebrate July 4th! This year, over 25,000 people are expected to join in the festivities! The 4th of July Committee has been working tirelessly throughout the year to plan a fun-filled day for the entire family.

PICNIC AT SYLVANPARK
(Section A on University Street across from the University of Redlands)
Beginning at 10:00 am, with a picnic at beautiful Sylvan Park, over 30 booths, mostly run by local non-profit organizations, will offer everything from tamales, hot dogs and pizza to cotton candy. Games are available for kids of all ages - even adults like winning prizes! No one can resist a 4th of July T-shirt, only $15.00, which will surely be the fashion statement of the day!
Music begins at 11:00 a.m. with music by “Freedom Rocks,” featuring classic rock and roll. Listen for “Yankee Doodle” 12:00 p.m. and also at 1:30 p.m., when everyone will enjoy the traditional sounds of America, presented by the Redlands Fourth of July Band.

PARADE
The parade, themed this year as the “Spirit of America,” begins at 4:00 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School and will progress around Sylvan Park. You won’t want to miss seeing the many bands, floats, marching bans and antique cars as they all compete for a gold medal!

FIREWORKS
University Redlands Stadium hosts a great fireworks exhibit that you won’t want to miss! Gates open at 6:00 p.m., with open seating on the field. Live entertainment begins at 7:00 p.m. This is one of the largest 4th of July Celebrations in the State of California. Presented by Pyro Spectaculars, this Rialto-based pyrotechnics company of national renown, and has produced shoes at Macy’s New York as well as for the Boston Pops, and the Rose Bowl, to mention a few.

The live show and opening ceremonies will begin at 7:00 p.m. and includes a flag ceremony and flyover by the Thunder Delvins, with four L29 light attack trainer jets in formation followed by at C17 flyover. Perris Valley Skydivers will jump and land in the center of the stadium, starting off the festivities with a bang! Two bands will perform: the Redlands Fourth of July Band will provide  patriotic music, followed by a rock and roll extravaganza by the group “After Seven.” Fireworks begin at 9:00 p.m.
